The Edo State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Chief Odion Olaye, and a Benin chief, Osaro Idah, are among the 17 elected National Delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that they were elected by delegates that emerged at last Saturday’s ward congresses in the state.
The NLC chairman, Olaye, and Idah, were elected by ward delegates in Oredo and Egor local government areas, respectively.
Also elected were former senators that represented Edo North Senatorial District, Francis Alimikhena and Yisa Braimah.
The ward and national delegates congresses were conducted ahead of the party’s governorship primary scheduled for February 22, 2024.
The congress held in 17 LGAs out of the 18 local government areas in the state.
Recall that the ward congress election in Etsako Central Local Government Area was canceled due to the alleged abduction of nine electoral officers.
A statement signed by Tony Anenih (Jnr), the State Organizing Secretary, dated February 9, had notified party members of the conduct of the National Delegates Election in all LGAs of the state, apart from Etsako Central Local Government Area.
The congress was conducted by officials from the National Headquarters of the PDP, in Abuja.
