The All Progressives Congress National Working Committee NWC has declared last weekend’s governorship primary in Edo state inconclusive.
The party national leadership announced its position on Tuesday night at the end of an emergency meeting.
National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka who addressed newsmen disclosed that
“The NWC resolves that the Edo State governorship primary election has not been completed and has now fixed Thursday, February 22, 2024 for the completion of the APC primary election process.”
Nigerian Tribune checks revealed that the national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje summoned the emergency meeting after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. He was accompanied to the meeting by his National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
Three of the aspirants have been laying claim to the ticket of the party: Honourable Dennis Idahosa declared winner by the Chairman of the seven man primary panel, Senator Hope Uzodinnma; a serving member of the House of Representatives, Anamero Dekeri, pronounced winner by Local Government returning officers for the primary election, led by Babatunde Ojo.
Also proclaiming himself candidate is serving Senator, Monday Okpebholo who was declared winner by Returning Officer of the exercise, Stanley Ugboaja.
