The crisis over the status of the position of the Edo State deputy governor festered on Friday as Comrade Philip Shaibu, reinstated by an Abuja Federal High Court, appointed eight aides.
Shaibu’s move is in sharp contrast to the stance of the state government which insisted that having filed a notice of appeal and stay of execution on the Abuja court judgement, Shaibu remained impeached until otherwise determined by a court of superior jurisdiction.
A press statement endorsed by Musa Ebomhian, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Shaibu, said, “The reinstated deputy governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has approved the reappointment of the following officials.”
He listed the appointed aides to include: “Hon. Kingsley Ehigiamusor as Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor, Edo State, Comrade Musa Ebomhiana as Chief Press Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor; Hon. Emmanuel Akhaba as Senior Special Assistant; Mustapha Lawal as Senior Special Assistant (Omokpo); Charles Olubayo as Senior Special Assistant; Mathias Akhanemhe as Special Assistant; Comrade Robinson Akhenoba as Special Assistant and Robert Ojele as Special Assistant”
“This appointment takes immediate effect.” The statement affirmed.
