Ahead of the February 17 Governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, the Acting state chairman of the party, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, has assured that APC would conduct free, fair and credible primaries to choose the party flag bearer for the September governorship election in Edo.
He praised the dispositions of the outgone state chairman of the party and one of the APC governorship aspirants, Col. David Imuse, (retd) for bringing APC back to its place of pride on the polity of the state as the most formidable party.
Tenebe made his position known during a press briefing held at the party secretariat in Benin City, on Wednesday, to herald his official assumption as the Acting State Chairman of the party.
”I assure you of the party’s readiness to take over government in the state and that the party is working to ensure that the candidate is a person who has been winning elections in his unit and ward.
“This has remained criteria in choosing a candidate and such a person is sure of winning the governorship election to turn around the fortunes of the state.
”My coming on board as the Acting Chairman will bring renewed hope to the party faithful across the state as it were when my boss, col. David Imuse, held sway” and explored the potentials to achieve desired results.
”There have been large numbers of aspirants in the party jostling for the governorship seat, but concerned about the trend, the leadership of the party at the national level, in a bid to reduce the numbers, came up with a resolution and constituted a committee headed by Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, to prune it down to acceptable level,” he said.
