Ebonyi State Commissioner for Education Professor Paul Nwobashi has reiterated the government’s readiness to clamp down on substandard primary and secondary schools in the state.
Nwobashi made the disclosure while speaking in Abakaliki on Friday.
He stated that all schools in the state would be opening on Monday, January 13, 2025, stressing that any school that deviates from the stipulated date would be sanctioned.
Explaining that the 22-classroom model school block with an aesthetic design, ongoing in different zones in the state, would be completed soon, he added that the re-introduction of reading in Nigerian schools would help curb the poor reading culture.
While acknowledging the ministry’s readiness to implement history and reading in schools, Nwobashi hinted that the new policy would go a long way in shaping the educational system in the country.
The commissioner, while explaining the government’s readiness to improve manpower in the educational system, said that successful applicants who sat for the teachers’ recruitment test would soon be made public, and he enjoined parents to rise to their responsibilities in ensuring that their children are up and doing.
