The Ogun State Police have assured residents of the state of robust security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter celebration.

Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the Federal Government, on Tuesday, declared Friday, 18 April, and Monday, 21 April, 2025, as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Following this, the Ogun State Police, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, and made available to Arogidigba Global Journal on Thursday in Abeokuta, stated that, due to the anticipated increase in visitors during the holidays, operatives of the command will perform stop-and-search operations in vulnerable areas to improve safety.

Odutola disclosed that there would also be increased police presence and patrols at strategic points such as Sagamu Interchange, Long Bridge, Ijebu Ode–Benin Highway, Sango Ota, Idiroko border towns, and Alapako.

She added that officers of the command would also be stationed at financial institutions, places of worship, government facilities, tertiary institutions, and VIP protection zones.

She said, “The Ogun State Police Command is working in close collaboration with other security agencies to maintain law and order for the benefit of all law-abiding citizens.

“With an expected influx of visitors during the holidays, uniformed officers will conduct stop-and-search operations in vulnerable areas to enhance safety.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, urges residents, visitors and fun-seekers to exercise moderation, prioritise personal safety, and report any suspicious activities promptly. Citizens are encouraged to secure their homes and travel with caution.”
