Human rights activist and lawyer to the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to ensure that the newly established Agunechemba Security Outfit in Anambra is not used for political advantages as the governorship election approaches in the state.
Ejiofor, in a statement issued on Monday titled “Safeguarding the integrity of the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025,” emphasised the need to lay a strong foundation for the success of the new security outfit.
He noted that security is a shared responsibility and called on the Anambra people to unite and restore the state’s diminishing security stature.
The statement reads: “I have carefully reviewed the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025, which establishes the ‘Agunechemba’ security outfit. My reflections align with the wisdom of a popular Igbo adage, ‘Osita di mma odibara gboo,’ loosely translating to ‘It is still early in the day to make things right and achieve better results.’ This underscores the opportunity to lay a strong foundation for the outfit’s success.
“As the November 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election approaches, I urge the Governor and his team to ensure that the Agunechemba security outfit remains free from political interference. It must not fall into the hands of political predators or be misused as a tool for oppression, intimidation, or harassment. Instead, its core objective — ensuring the security and welfare of the people — must be preserved above all else.”
“Security is a shared responsibility. Every citizen has a role to play in restoring Anambra State’s former glory. Together, we can achieve a safer, more prosperous homeland,” he stated.
