The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Kayode Ojo, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu and called on Nigerians to disregard the coalition formed by some politicians against his administration.
Ojo, an engineer of repute and prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, said in a statement that he is still in the race for the governorship of the state in 2026, and asked the people of the state to support his ambition for better governance.

Ojo, who also weighed in on the vexatious issue of emergency in Rivers State, said President Tinubu needed to take action to restore peace and security in the state, saying that was exactly what he did.
Dismissing the coalition formed by opposition politicians against President Tinubu, Ojo said the politicians who were massing together for the purpose of unseating the president in 2027 should shelve the idea and rather support him for a better Nigeria.
According to him, such politicians lacked the requisite clout and the necessary national appeal to win enough people’s confidence and support, and dismissed the coalition as a distraction from the ongoing development of the country.
The APC chieftain, who also reiterated his desire to run for the governorship of Ekiti State in 2026, said President Tinubu had done well and expressed satisfaction that the president had “restored peace to the country and in Rivers State.”
He described Tinubu as “a patriot and a nation-builder who would not allow any group or person to create a crisis and destroy the nation’s oil and other infrastructure.”
He, therefore, urged peace-loving Nigerians to continue to support the president, saying “doing this would enhance the programmes that will usher in prosperity and abundance to Nigeria and the entire citizenry.”
On his governorship ambition in Ekiti in 2026, Ojo, from Ikoro-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of the state, said he was setting up an “explorative committee of notable men and women” in his bid to run for the APC governorship ticket and subsequently the governorship election in Ekiti State in 2026.
According to Ojo, Tinubu needed a development partner in Ekiti who would implement his Renewed Hope Agenda, pointing out that he (Ojo) fits this role.
He added that he would use his contacts around the world to make his home state, Ekiti, an investment destination to boost needed development.
