Ahead of the local government elections in Delta, the people of Abavo Kingdom have expressed total support for the adoption of the subsisting rotational arrangement for elective political offices in Ika South local government area of the State.
The local government area is made up of Agbor and Abavo clans.
Under the zoning arrangement, if an Agbor man goes to the state Assembly, an Abavo person will take charge as Ika South local government chairman and vice versa.
According to the people who spoke through the traditional ruler of the Kingdom, Uche Irenuma 11 at the end of an enlarged meeting of critical stakeholders, the zoning system has become a tradition in Ika south since the local government was created over 30 years ago and as such should not be circumvented.
Youths, council of chiefs, political leaders of different political parties and a cross section of the clan had gathered in the community to deliberate the way forward in the forthcoming council polls.
Obi Uche Irenuma 11, the 17th ruler of Abavo , particularly appealed to all political leaders in Ika South to maintain the status quo in the forthcoming local government chairmanship election.
