From Uchenna Inya, Abakaliki
A decomposing body of a yet-to-be-identified person has been found inside an electricity transformer cage at No. 3 Onogoro Street, linking Lot 2 International Market, Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
The body was discovered by residents of the area and passers-by on Thursday morning.
Our correspondent, who visited the area on Friday afternoon, observed blood on the decomposing body.
The body is lying beside the wall of the cage, with hand gloves on its hands.
A lady, Blessing Igwe, who owns a hair salon beside the electricity transformer cage, told *Sunday Sun* that the situation has scared her customers away.
“This decomposing body here is affecting me a lot because my customers are not coming to my shop anymore, and I am not staying in it again until it is evacuated.
“My customers and everybody are afraid of coming around this area. Policemen and EEDC officials have been coming here since Thursday, taking pictures and all that, but I don’t know why the body has not been evacuated,” she stated.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said he had not received a report on the body.
