The Cross River State government has announced plans to host an agro-tourism festival and International Expo festival called CRATFEX.
The festival, which will run from August 9 through August 17, 2024, is themed: “Building Stronger Food Systems to Strengthen the Resilience in the Fight Against Hunger in Nigeria.”
The lead visionary for the event, Asu Abang, says the event, which has as sub-theme: “Harmonizing Agriculture, Arts, Culture, and Tourism for Sustainable Development,” will be a transformative event.
He listed activities lined up for it to include an agro-tourism conference, agro-empower initiatives, and environmental awareness campaigns, among others.
He stressed the importance of building stronger food systems to strengthen resilience against hunger in Nigeria.

The event, he said, “Is a testament to our collective efforts to promote sustainable practices, support local farmers and entrepreneurs, and foster growth opportunities for all participants,” he said.
Also speaking, the state commissioner for tourism said 90% of cultural events in the state are agriculture-based and that CRATFEX will help drive traffic to the state.
