The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC has appealed to all aggrieved political parties in the November 11 2023 Governorship election to accept the verdict of the tribunal declaring Ahmed Usman Ododo as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State.
Addressing a press conference in Lokoja on Wednesday, the Kogi State Chairman of IPAC, Iliyas Badanga stated that it has become germane to advise political parties, politicians, security agencies, professionals, traditional rulers, clergies and all stakeholders in Kogi State that enough is enough of cases after election.
While calling for a peaceful coexistence among the people, the Kogi State IPAC Chairman pointed out that, in an election, there are bound to be misconceptions, imperfections, and agitations.
Badanga said, ” the tribunal’s verdict by declaring the APC candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo as the duly elected Governor of the election held on the 11th November, 2023 remains apt. The political parties under IPAC have unequivocally and unanimously
agreed to move the state forward”.
“Our state has been drawn backwards from development because of a series of contestation of political cases after all the elections, since the beginning of democratic governance in Kogi State”.
” We make bold to say “this is unhealthy politically for development. IPAC Kogi State Chapter appeals to all political parties for the first time to show resilience, sacrifice and patriotism and not to drag the State further into more cases in court because of the entire Kogites that are yearning to have a prosperous State of our dream.
“This is not to be misconstrued as cowardice by the political parties, but to prevent more wastage of tax-payer’s money and individuals hard earned resources”.
“Leadership is ordained by God Almighty divinely on “Time and
chance. It is on this note that IPAC is appealing for calm and determination to allow the winner of the election as declared by the tribunal to face development frontally”.
He charged the Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo to form a state of unity where political parties are carried along to contribute their quota.
The IPAC Chairman seized the opportunity to call on the government to conduct fresh Local Government elections following the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past council Chairmen.
Badanga, also called on the Governor to deliver dividends of democracy to the three senatorial districts on an equal basis, to consolidate on the peaceful Coexistence where ethnicity, religion and sectionalism have no place under his leadership.
