Ondo State Government has vowed to keep contractors on their toes, to complete and deliver the ongoing road projects in Akure metropolis.
The Special Adviser (Infrastructure, Lands and Housing) to the governor, Engr. Joseph Ayo Babalola, who stated this in Akure, the state capital, also assured that all the projects would be completed and delivered as projected.
Babalola who gave that assurance while inspecting all road projects at Oyarugbulem and Shagari Estate overhead link bridge, disclosed that all the bims and deck slabs have been tested and met quality standards.
Babalola revealed that all the construction materials being used by the construction company were of quality standard, noted that the construction work had reached 60 percent completion.
He disclosed that the contractors would commence the hoisting of the bins as soon as possible before laying the concrete decks.
According to the Special Adviser ejo stated that the visit was meant to complement the initial inspection carried out by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, explaining that aside easing traffic in the axis, the overhead bridge would enhance business activities in the metropolis.
According to him, “We are paying unscheduled visit to the construction sites in order for us to see the level of construction work here.
“We don’t want to contractors to know we are coming here so we can see the level of seriousness here. But we are satisfied with the pace at which the construction works are going here.
“The bims and concrete decks have been tested with world-class equipment and we discovered they met world standard.
“They would soon begin to hoist the bims before laying of the concrete decks and the finishing works would commence thereafter.
“We thank our people’s governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for giving the marching order that all contractors should return to sites.
“So, this overhead bridge would be completed as scheduled. It is expected to be completed within 18 months and considering the pace at which the contraction works are going here, the contractors would surely meet up with the time.”
Babalola also stated that the follow-up visit was to check the quality of the jobs done by the contractors on the site.
He said the contractors have achieved 60 completion, promising that the Ministry would not relent in ensuring the construction works done at the sites are of quality standard.
The Special Adviser with his team also visited the Oda Road dualisation and Ijoka Road dualisation projects.
