Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago joined thousands of Muslims that converged on the Central Eid Prayer Ground in Kontagora, headquarters of Kontagora Local Government Area of the State, to perform the two-unit open-air congregational prayer marking the end of the Ramadan fast and Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
Shortly after the prayer, the governor, in an interview, called on all Muslim faithful to continue to imbibe the lessons learned in the month of Ramadan.
He also emphasised the need for them to remain selfless, show kindness, and maintain good neighbourliness while sustaining their prayers to Allah for peace in the land and for the success of government both at the state and federal levels.
While appreciating the Kontagora Emirate for the warm reception accorded him, he admonished them to be security cautious in their celebrations and report any suspicious movement to relevant authorities.
Senator representing Niger North Senatorial District and former Niger State Governor, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, expressed gratitude to Allah for witnessing another Eid-El-Fitr while praying to Allah to continue to protect the country and bring an end to all forms of insecurity.
Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, Muhammad Barau Mu’azu II, who commended the governor for coming to celebrate Eid with the people of Kontagora, prayed to Allah for the success of his administration.
Notable Muslim adherents that graced the Eid-El-Fitr prayer included Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly AbdulMalik Sarkin Daji, Member representing Kontagora/Mariga/Mashegu and Wushishi Federal Constituency in the National Assembly,Abuja, Hon. Abdullahi Idris Garba, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdullahi Usman Gbatamangi,other members of the State Executive Council, and traditional leaders in Kontagora Emirate.
