As Nigerians await cabinet reshuffle at the Federal Executive Council (FEC), a coalition of Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) youths has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider Nigerians with a track record in philanthropy as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs.
The coalition, in a press statement by its representative, Mr Agbigbe Ochuko, made available to the Tribune Online in Abuja today, noted that the call becomes imperative in view of the current hardship being faced by Nigerians.
It further noted that there is an urgent need to appoint someone who is selfless, feels the sufferings and cries of Nigerian masses, and is very accessible with passion for humanitarian service to oversee the affairs of the Humanitarian Ministry with a view to giving Nigerians, especially the vulnerable, a better life.
The coalition of APC youths, therefore, made a case for the consideration of the Chief Executive Officer, QAT Foundation, Dr Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, for appointment as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, submitting that their recommendation is in view of her track record in helping the less privileged in society.
According to the group, the only way for President Tinubu to succeed with his Renewed Hope Agenda was for him to appoint the right persons with track records and experience.
It added that appointing Tejuosho as a minister would amount to putting a square peg in a square hole, adding that she was the right person for the ministry.
“Whenever she has the opportunity to reach out, her love for persons with disabilities is infectious and undiluted. Giving her this opportunity to serve Nigerians will be putting a square peg in a square hole. She is the right person for the job.
“We believe that the only way Mr President can succeed in restoring hope back to Nigerians is by giving the jobs of good governance to the right people with tested records and experience,” the APC youths coalition stated.
The coalition appealed to the President to consider its humble request and those of like-minded individuals by giving Dr Tejuosho the opportunity not only to show what she is capable of doing but also to tap from her wealth of humanitarian service experience.
“We are confident that Mr. President will grant this request because he is a man that always goes for the best hands.
“And as rumours of cabinet reshuffling keep spreading, we know that Mr President will bring in the right hands on deck his cabinet to help drive and fulfil the Renewed Hope Agenda and bring succumb to the masses.
“We use this medium to reiterate our support for Mr President’s progressive policies and agenda in repositioning the country for the best.”
