An advocacy group, the Ondo Good Governance Group (OGG), has asked the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State to consider an aspirant with good antecedents to clinch its gubernatorial ticket in the April 25 primary.
The group, in a statement by its chairman, Mr. John Adesola, in Akure, said that delegates of the ruling party for the primary should not be influenced by financial inducements.
Adesola asked APC delegates to check the performance records of all gubernatorial aspirants in the state and support the one with outstanding antecedents.
The group’s chairman described one of the aspirants, Jimi Odimayo, as an outstanding achiever who had used his abilities and office to better the lives of people in the state.
He added that Odimayo, a member representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency if given the APC’s ticket and won the election, would transform the state tremendously.
“ Prince Odimayo has performed exceptionally well as a House of Representatives member, earning him the All Progressives Congress ticket for the gubernatorial contest.
“ His performance as a representative at the Green Chamber has been so strong that it merits him being considered for the governorship slot in the state.
“So not only does Odimayo have grassroots appeal, but he has also been delivering tangible results for the people of his constituency.
“He’s doing a great job of representing his constituents and working to improve their lives and we are sure he will replicate this on a state-wide scale if voted governor,” he said.
Adesola described Odimayo’s popularity with the people of the state as a key factor in his qualifications for governor.
Adesola stated that Odimayo has the ability to use the resources of the state to create a better future for the people than any other aspirant.
“He has successfully managed blue-chip companies that are working today. He’s a manager of men who achieve results.
“Undoubtedly, we have a lot of faith in Odimayo’s ability to make a positive impact in Ondo State. We urge that the APC look beyond sentiment and focus on more competence and capacity to deliver,” he said.
He added that Odimayo was devoid of blemishes, stating that the attribute made him a very attractive candidate, not just to the APC but to voters of all political persuasions.
“The party shouldn’t make any mistake; Prince Odimayo should be endorsed as the flag-bearer because members of other political parties and other electorate will vote for him unconditionally at the gubernatorial election,” he said.
