It was smiles and joy for the Mwarawo community in the Mbula district of Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State as the only 49-year-old dilapidated primary school was renovated, and a new block of classrooms was constructed by Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) and handed over to them yesterday.
The school renovation and construction of the new classroom block are part of the Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) special intervention civil-military cooperation project scheme on selected projects across the country for serving Major Generals.
The project was commissioned and handed over to the community by the Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, Senator Binos Dauda Yero.
While commissioning the project, he commended the Nigerian Army for establishing such a scheme that identifies and addresses the needs of the people.

He thanked the facilitator of the project, Major General Sinyinah Nicodemus, for choosing the education sector for the intervention, stressing that education is the best legacy anyone can provide for an individual or a community.
He urged the community to make the best use of the opportunities these projects will offer them and nearby communities.
The project scheme was facilitated by the Director of Defence Liaison at the National Assembly, Major General Sinyinah Nicodemus, for his community, Mwarawo, in Demsa Local Government Area.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Major General Nicodemus thanked the late Chief of Army Staff for approving the renovation of two dilapidated classroom blocks and the construction of a new classroom block for his people.
He also commended the present Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for providing the necessary support to complete the project.
He stressed that the Nigerian Army’s civil-military cooperation initiative aims to address the needs of the people, bringing hope and smiles to their faces.
“I was privileged to have my submission of this project selected and approved,” he said.
In his remarks at the commissioning and handover ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, stated that the vision of the scheme is to build a strong military-civilian relationship that fosters the growth and development of children and communities.
The COAS, represented by the Commander of the 23rd Brigade, Brigadier General Paul Zawaya, congratulated the project facilitator for identifying and addressing the needs of his people.
Adding that education is one of the best gifts anyone can give to their community, he urged the people of the community to make the best use of the opportunity provided by the Army through their son.
There were goodwill messages from the Adamawa State Government, the paramount ruler of Murmur Mbula, and some sons and daughters of the community, as well as neighboring communities.
Apart from the renovation and construction of classroom blocks, the scheme also furnished the classrooms with chairs and desks for pupils and teachers, and provided free notebooks, school uniforms, and sandals for the pupils.
