Coalition of Civil Societies and eminent citizens from the states of the South west region have described the ongoing economic reforms as inevitable if the Country must progress.
This was made known at the Southwest Summit on Tinubu”s Renewed Hope Agenda which was convened by Barrister Oladipo at University of Ibadan Conference Centre.
It was resolved at the summit which had in attendance, the former Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, the Oluwo of Iwo, Retired Prelate if Methodist Church, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, Oba of Somolu , Oba of Itire, Rotimi Osuntola from Canada and host of others that the reforms would facilitate the economic growth of the Country.
The summit acknowledged the effect of the present economic downturn on the downtrodden masses but urged the people to persevere noting the impending gains of the reforms
It also condemned the calls by some people for the military take over of governance in the country and, thereby urged all Nigerians to unite in defence of democracy and future of the country.
It added that Democrats within and outside Nigeria have a moral responsibility to heed the call to defend our hard earned democracy
“It is incumbent upon all Yoruba elders and stakeholders to remain steadfast in supporting the ongoing reforms and work closely with stakeholders from other regions of Nigeria to support the current administration
It was also resolved at the summit that the National Assembly should enact a law to establish the Southwest Development Commission
In addition, “Peace and Productivity Commission be established by the National Assembly Act to promote peace and drive the nexus between peace and productivity in the land.
