Former President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his condolences to the people and government of Jigawa State following the recent petrol tanker explosion in Majia village, Taura Local Government Area and donated N10 million to the victims.
During his visit to the Jigawa State Government House in Dutse, the state capital, Buhari who was received by the governor extended his sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives and to the victims who suffered injuries in the fire.
The former president also visited the Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital in Dutse to check on the surviving patients, thanking Almighty Allah for their progress in treatment.
While speaking at the government house during his courtesy call on Governor Malam Umar Namadi, President Buhari expressed sadness over the loss of lives and offered words of encouragement to those who are recovering.
He commended the governor and the Jigawa State government for their commitment to supporting the families of the deceased and for taking care of all medical bills for the surviving victims.
In response, Acting Governor Aminu Usman Gumel appreciated the former president for the donation, assuring him that the funds would be judiciously distributed to the intended beneficiaries.
According to the acting governor, “Your visit and the donation is additional indication you love, care and concern to the Jigawa state and Nigeria at large particularly for a common man”
The former president was accompanied by former Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika; former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Professor Isah Ali Pantami; and Former SGF Boss Mustapha among others.
