Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has declared that the embattled senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District of the state, Abdul Ahmad Ningi, is not alone in his time of trial at the Senate as the state government is fully behind him.
Recall that the Senate on Tuesday slammed a 3-month suspension on Senator Abdul Ahmad Ningi for alleging padding of the 2024 budget by the sum of N3.7 trillion.
Bala Mohammed made the declaration on Wednesday during the opening session of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the EXCO Chambers of the new Governor’s Office.
The governor, who was reacting to the development in his official capacity, said that the entire people of Bauchi State will stand with Abdul Ahmed Ningi “for telling the truth.”
Bala Mohammed, however, called on all relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter rather than suspending the senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Sen. Abdul Ahmed Ningi, whom he described as a “ranking senator.”
According to him, “We will support Sen. Abdul Ahmed Ningi for telling the truth in a quest to ensure check and balance in democracy.”
The governor then said that his administration will soon introduce another round of palliative measures during the ongoing Ramadan fast to enable people to breathe a sigh of relief from the present hardship.
Bala Mohammed also said that his administration is very aware of the challenges facing the people in terms of food insecurity.
He then assured that the government would soon provide food for the people across the state, no matter how little, expressing confidence that it would at least bring some relief.
