BUA Cement has officially denied any involvement in the unfortunate accident that occurred on Agulu-Agwubu Road in the Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
The accident, which claimed multiple lives, was initially linked to a BUA Cement truck in numerous online reports and a circulating video.
In a statement, BUA Cement expressed deep sympathy for the families affected by the accident but clarified that the truck in question did not belong to them.
“BUA Cement trucks are marked with our logo and truck numbers, which are standard practice for easy identification.
“The truck involved in the accident is neither owned nor operated by BUA Cement Plc,” the statement read.
The company emphasised that the majority of its cement products are sold ex-factory, with customers responsible for transporting the cement from their plants. For door-to-door services, BUA engages its transport and logistics arm, BUA Transport, which operates with stringent safety standards and prioritizes human lives.
BUA Cement reiterated its commitment to safety, stating that it trains and retrains its truck drivers in collaboration with professional logistic bodies, including the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). The company urged anyone who notices unsafe driving by a BUA Cement truck to report it using the provided contact number, 0803 200 5193.
The company once again expressed its condolences to the affected families and prayed for comfort and peace for the departed souls.
