The Sokoto Central Market is currently experiencing a fire outbreak, particularly affecting the section designated for motorcycles.
The fire, which started early in the morning on Monday, has caused significant damage, although the exact cause has not been determined yet.
According to an eyewitness, the fire may have originated from a solid waste dumping site close to the motorcycles market.
The chairman of the Motorcycles Marketers Association, Shehu Muhammad, has stated that they are unable to estimate the number of motorcycles destroyed by the fire as it is still ongoing. This suggests that the extent of the damage caused by the fire is significant and continues to escalate.
“We cannot quantify the number of motorcycles burnt down by the fire now because the fire is still raging.

“But the men of the federal and state fire service are currently battling but I know it will take some times before they can quench it all,” he said
He, however, appealed to the state government to come to the aid of those who lost their property during the inferno.
