From Timothy Olanrewaju, Maiduguri
Borno State government has donated 110 operational vehicles and 500 motorcycles to the security agencies to tackle insecurity, particularly terrorist activities.
Governor Babagana Zulum, while handing over the vehicles at a short ceremony at the Maiduguri Government House on Friday, said the state government, in order to boost the operations of security agencies, especially military forces and the police, purchased the vehicles.
“Security is the cornerstone of development. These vehicles and houses are parts of our support to the security agencies to improve the security situation in the state,” he stated.
He said security may be an extensive sector in the exclusive list under the Nigerian Constitution, but it also requires contributions and collaboration of all. He urged beneficiaries, the military and police to put the facilities in appropriate use.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun described the donation as a “massive operational generosity” by the Borno State government. He said the vehicles would improve the operational activities of the police and other security agencies
The IGP assured that the police would continue to collaborate with the state government.
