The Borno Authorities on Sunday reaffirmed its ban on unlawful mining and warned defaulters of dire penalties.
Professor Usman Tar, info and inside safety commissioner, in a press release on Sunday in Maiduguri, enjoined the general public to stick strictly to the ban.
“The navy and safety companies are requested to be vigilant and apprehend defaulters.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the ban on unlawful mining stays lively within the mild of the delicate safety state of affairs in Borno.
“Let’s implement the ban. Any unlawful miner caught shall be prosecuted,” he warned.
NAN studies that 17 stable minerals are present in Borno, in line with the Nigerian Funding Promotion Fee.
The minerals embody Feldspar, Limestone, Kaolin, Potash, Iron-Ore, Quarts, Magnetite, Diatomite, Trona, Mica, Silica Sand, Gypsum, Granite, Flutters Earth and Uranium.
