In a surprising turn of events, popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has been sentenced to six months behind bars with no option of a fine.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos delivered the verdict this morning, April 12th.

Recall that on April 5th, the EFCC charged Bobrisky to court on six charges, including Naira Abuse and Money Laundering.

The court, however, dismissed the money laundering charges but convicted him of Naira Abuse after he confessed to the crime. At the time, the court directed that he be held in EFCC detention in Lagos.

The judge also adjourned the case until April 9th, but the court couldn’t convene due to the Eid-Fitri public holiday from April 9th to April 11th. Unfortunately, the controversial transvestite has now been jailed for six months.

As expected, the verdict has stirred an uproar on social media, with many condemning it, while others sympathized with Bobrisky.
