The Commander of 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Gusau, Zamfara state, Brigadier General Opurum Timothy has described the notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji who is on the run as a coward, who abandoned his foot soldiers.
General Timothy while speaking on Saturday evening shortly after the Nigerian Army’s Combined West African Social Activities (WASA) 2024 held at 1 Brigade Cantonment in Gusau, Zamfara state, assured that the military fight against banditry would continue until peace is restored in the state.
“Turji is a coward and has abandoned his foot soldiers due to the pressure we’ve mounted on him. We have cleared many of them and will sustain the momentum by taking the fight directly to their strongholds,” he assured.

He appreciated communities in the state for their cooperation, particularly through the provision of vital intelligence information, which has led to remarkable success in the fight against insecurity in the state.
He urged troops to remain resilient and steadfast in their mission, emphasizing that commitment and sacrifice are essential to achieving lasting peace.
