Traditional rulers in Ondo state have charged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to be magnanimous in victory by constituting a government of an all-inclusive government to usher in unprecedented development in the state.
The monarchs under the auspices of Ondo state ‘130 Krown Obas’, who made this call also demanded constitutional roles for royal fathers in the state to join hands with the state government to develop the grassroots and the state.
This monarch’s position was contained in a congratulatory message to the state Governor, Aiyedatiwa, on his resounding victory at the just concluded governorship election.
The monarchs called on other governorship candidates who lost at the polls, to support Aiyedatiwa for the speedy development of the state while charging Aiyedatiwa to extend olive hands to all for the development of the state.
The President of the Ondo state 130 Krown Obas, the Molokun of Atijere in Ilaje, Oba Samuel Adeoye Edema, noted that the exceptional leadership qualities exhibited by Aiyedatiwa and his performance in the last ten months earned the election.
He said the victory of Aiyedatiwa at the poll did not however, come as a surprise considering his leadership qualities and performance in the office since he took over a few months ago, saying this is the time for total rededication, sincerity, and boldness in providing leadership and meeting yearnings of the masses.
The traditional rulers expressed satisfaction with the performances and professionalism of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all security operatives that led to the huge success of the governorship election.
The monarch appealed to the governor to repay people’s confidence in him with more good jobs in all critical sectors.
Oba Edema, commended the efforts of the Aiyedatiwa’s administration for the peace being enjoyed in the state and for moving the state forward, urging him to redouble his efforts at transforming the State, and not to misplace the trust of the electorate.
The royal fathers, however, appealed to the governor to reach out to his co-contestants and also appealed to the other candidates in Saturday’s election to sheath their swords in the interest of the state and work harmoniously with the winner
They urged the political class in the state to sustain the peaceful atmosphere even after the November 16, 2024, gubernatorial election, as no ambition is worth the lives of the citizens.
“We urge all residents of Ondo state to continue to maintain the peace and sustain their support for the Aiyedatiwa’s administration.
“We also pray God to continue to guide and guard our dear Governor Aiyedatiwa and enrich him with more knowledge and wisdom to lead us to a higher level,” the monarchs pleaded.
