As the world celebrates International Youth Day, the Youths Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) Bauchi State Chapter has seized the opportunity to call on political leaders in Bauchi State to put aside their differences and work towards addressing the lingering challenges confronting the youth in the state.
International Youth Day is a significant occasion that highlights the importance of youth empowerment, participation, and development. It serves as a reminder to governments, policymakers, and stakeholders to prioritise the needs and aspirations of young people.
Speaker of Bauchi State, YAN, Rt Hon Danaudi Sani Mohammed, stated in a statement issued on Monday, “On this day, we recognise the potential, creativity, and energy of youths as drivers of positive change and innovation.”
According to him, “By celebrating International Youth Day, we emphasise the need to address the challenges faced by young people, including education, employment, healthcare, and political participation. It is a call to action for all stakeholders to work together to create an enabling environment that allows youths to thrive and reach their full potential.”
He added, “We acknowledge the contributions of political leaders in Bauchi State who have demonstrated commitment to youth empowerment and infrastructure development. Their leadership has created opportunities for young people to participate in governance and has improved the state’s infrastructure.”
However, the conflicts between political leaders in Bauchi State will directly affect governance, leading to delayed development projects and initiatives, a lack of representation and inclusivity for youth, instability and insecurity, and a negative impact on the future of youth in Bauchi State.
“We urge political leaders to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal of developing Bauchi State and empowering its youths,” he added.
Danaudi Sani added that “it is imperative that political leaders in Bauchi State put aside their differences and join hands to tackle the challenges facing Bauchi State. By working together, they can leverage their unique strengths and experiences to create a brighter future for the youth of Bauchi State.”
“We call on them to engage in constructive dialogue, build bridges, and foster a spirit of cooperation and collaboration. Only through unity and collective effort can we achieve the desired development and progress for our state,” he stressed.
He also stated, We also urge the youth of Bauchi State to remain calm and not allow themselves to be used as tools for political brinkmanship.”
According to him, “Instead, we should focus on constructive engagement, dialogue, and peaceful resolution of conflicts. Let us work together to build a united and prosperous Bauchi State where every young person has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. By doing so, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.”
The YAN Speaker added As humans, we acknowledge that perfection is an attribute of the Almighty Allah, and only He is perfect, stating, however, “We cannot shy away from describing political leaders in Bauchi State as those who have done credibly well in advancing the course of Bauchi State.”
He urged them to continue building on their achievements and work towards a united and prosperous Bauchi State, stressing that accusations and counter-accusations can never solve the multidimensional challenges confronting the Nigerian youths in Bauchi State.”
“Only political will and leadership can drive meaningful change. It is against this background that we emphasise the need for unity among political leaders in Bauchi State. Now, more than ever, the state requires a united front to tackle the pressing issues facing its youth, including unemployment, poverty, and insecurity,” he added.
According to him, “the importance of unity among political leaders cannot be overstated. When leaders work together, they can pool their resources, expertise, and influence to drive development and progress. Unity fosters a collaborative environment where leaders can engage in constructive dialogue, share ideas, and build on each other’s strengths.”
“By working together, political leaders in Bauchi State can create a brighter future for the youth of Bauchi State, where everyone has access to opportunities, resources, and support to thrive,” he added.
As we celebrate International Youth Day, we draw the attention of the youths in Bauchi State to being good ambassadors and peace drivers in their communities. Your role is crucial in ensuring that the efforts of Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to maintain peace and harmony in the state are achieved. We urge you to shun violence, ethnicity, and religious differences and instead embrace unity, tolerance, and understanding.
According to him, “By being peace drivers, you can contribute to creating an environment conducive to development, progress, and prosperity. Let us work together to build a united and prosperous Bauchi State where every young person has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.”
He stressed that, “remember, the future of our state depends on our collective efforts to maintain peace, harmony, and unity. Let us rise to the challenge and make Bauchi State a beacon of hope and progress for generations to come.”
