Bauchi State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has dissociated itself from the stance of the Forum of the Nineteen States, with FCT Chairmen and Secretaries of the party stating that the Forum is non-existent.
The Bauchi LP addressed journalists in Bauchi on Friday through Mohammed Sabitu Aliyu, Ag. Chairman, and Danlami Idi Danladi, Ag. Secretary, jointly.
Reading the text of the conference, Mohammed Sabitu Aliyu stated that “the attention of Bauchi State Labour Party Executives has been drawn to the news broadcast by AIT and some online and social media in which a few individuals claimed to be the Northern States’ Chairmen and Secretaries made some statements which are hereby refuted.”
According to him, the entire elected officials of the Labour Party of Bauchi State and indeed the entire Northern States’ Executives wish to disclaim and refute the positions of a few individuals who masqueraded as leaders of the 19 northern states.”
The AG Chairman added, We categorically say that they are not the Executives of the 19 Northern States, and especially their spokeswoman was deposed from her position due to his antiparty activities when the party was battling to reclaim her stolen mandate.”
He added that “the acclaimed persons are a group of disgruntled, frustrated, and treacherous people who worked against the party’s efforts in times of need; furthermore, they are political power mongers seeking attention through such malicious and baseless claims in the name of the northern region.”
“As you are all aware, the National Convention of the Great Labour Party took place in Nnewi Anambra State on March 27, 2024, in which the new National Executives were elected,” he added.
The AG Chairman further stated, “At that time, all and equal representatives of the delegates from the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) participated in the process.”
According to him, “At that time, the Northern interest was fully taken care of and protected through the election of the following officers: National Secretary; National Assistant Secretary;
National Organising Secretary; National Women Leader; Assistant National Legal Adviser; and Deputy Youth Leader.”
Aliyu Sabitu therefore declared that the entire Bauchi State and other Northern states’ Labour Party Executives are solidly behind the National Working Committee’s (NWC) decision to zone the position of the presidential flag bearer to the southern part of the country come 2027, when the ban on political activities is lifted.”
According to him, “To put the record straight and avoid doubt, the newly elected party officials are the ones that will pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years as enshrined in the party’s constitution.”
The Ag Chairman added, “Furthermore, their records and pedigree show that they are great personalities who understand Nigeria very well and know the importance of carrying everybody along in the scheme of things.”
He stressed that, “Labour party remains the only party that can take Nigeria out of the woods, a hope of the masses and voice for the voiceless of our nation; that is why it fielded the best candidate in person of His Excellency, Peter G. Obi, in the last general elections and knows really well how to manage diversity.”
