The Bauchi state Government has been urged to build additional sporting facilities across the state in order to shift attention of teaming youths away from negative tendencies.
The call was made by a 57-year-old Tennis veteran, Hassan Abba Aminu, at the end of an exhibition match to mark the commencement of the second edition of annual Tennis competition, organised by Epitome Tennis Foundation in Bauchi.
Hassan Abba said that, establishment of more Tennis courts and other sporting centres especially in schools will prevent youths from engaging in drug abuse and other social vices in the society.
The sportsman who won the exhibition match 6-3, encouraged teaming youths to key into Tennis and do more as he spent 35 years in the game
Also speaking, the President Epitome Tennis Foundation, Yahaya Yahuza Muhammad BBJ, thanked the Bauchi state Government for sponsoring the tournament and supporting other sporting activities in the state.
He explained that Epitome Tennis Foundation is working towards creating awareness on youths to improve their health and mental fitness in the society.
Earlier, Bauchi state commissioner of youths and sports development, Muhammad Gamawa, promised to continue supporting activities across the state for the betterment of teaming youths.
The Commissioner was represented by Director, Sports, Bauchi state Sports Council, Usman Yusuf Coach Ɗan Bala, declared the tournament opened and wished the organisers a successful event.
The Seven days Tennis competition is scheduled to wrap-up on the 9th of this month.
