Bauchi State Government has inaugurated a 40-member Consultative Committee on Statistics (SCCS) to ensure the availability, accuracy, and integrity of statistical data within the state.
The committee, which will meet twice a year, was inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, who represented the State Governor.
Hammayo emphasised the importance of data-driven governance and policy formulation, stating that the committee’s work will be crucial in empowering the government and stakeholders to make informed decisions.
“It is imperative to inform this gathering that the establishment of Bauchi State Bureau of Statistics by His Excellency the State Executive Governor was informed by the high premium attached to evidence-based planning and good governance.”
The Statistician-General of the State, Lawal Bako, commended the state government for creating the State Office of Statistics and providing it with a befitting accommodation for effective operations.
