He also reminded the Corps members that the primary aim of the NYSC scheme is to promote national unity and integration, pointing out that the orientation course was aimed at assessing and harnessing
their physical, psychological, mental, and intellectual capabilities.
Represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, Bala Mohammed said that the people of Bauchi State are in support of the goals and objectives of the NYSC Scheme.
According to him, “I am very pleased with the spirit of patriotism and enthusiasm you displayed by promptly reporting to this orientation camp. I urge you to sustain and be guided by this spirit during the orientation exercise and throughout your primary assignment.”
He stressed that, “The NYSC programme being a catalyst for accelerated national development, I wish to once again urge you to be totally committed towards the realization of the noble objective of the scheme.”
The Governor further stated “The future of this country rests on you. As future leaders, you have a crucial role to play in shaping our collective destiny. You must not misuse the unique opportunity provided by the NYSC Scheme.”
Bala Mohammed told the Corps members that the ongoing comprehensive renovation and construction of new facilities at the State NYSC Permanent Orientation
camp Wailo is to provide a conducive environment for effective orientation exercises.
The Governor, therefore, enjoined the corps members to take advantage of Bauchi’s hospitable, friendly, and accommodating environment to gain a deeper understanding of the people of the state.
In his address, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-General Yushau Ahmed, warned the newly sworn-in Corps members across the country against the destruction of hostels and other camp structures in their various locations.
Represented by Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, the Bauchi State Coordinator of NYSC, Yushau Ahmed warned that any Corps member found wanting would be ‘seriously’ sanctioned in accordance with the scheme’s extant rules.
He said this was necessary to adequately maintain the newly renovated orientation camp by Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state.
“I want to use this medium to ask the corps members to do well and maintain the structures you have met.
“You met the hostels and other structures in good shape, we don’t want to have breakages and ensure that you don’t destroy anything in your various hostels and the camp at large,” he said.
