Eight people abducted by bandits in Kanya District, Danko-Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State, have been released in the early hours of Tuesday.
However, the District Head remains in captivity.
Confirming the release to journalists in Birnin-Kebbi on Tuesday afternoon, the Council Chairman, Husseini Aliyu Bena, shared that security operatives, led by the Nigeria Police, confronted the bandits in the bush.

The superior firepower of the security forces forced the bandits to abandon their victims and flee.
Bena further explained that while the released individuals are now safe, the whereabouts of the District Head are still unknown.
He assured that an intensive search is ongoing, and added that Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasiru Idris, has given security operatives a standing order to ensure the swift release of the District Head.
