Babcock University Alumni Association (BUAA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Education Advancement Support Services (EASS) to facilitate the creation of an online platform. This platform aims to engage alumni and donors, raising funds for the university.
According to the terms of reference, EASS will implement and program the online platform, Konnect, on behalf of BUAA. This includes importing data, setting up a customised and branded web front-end, and managing BUAA’s administrative portal, among other responsibilities.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, witnessed by the university’s principal officers, BUAA and EASS officials, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ademola Tayo expressed confidence that the agreement would be mutually beneficial.
Professor Tayo emphasised the importance of EASS reaching out to alumni before engaging them in any fundraising activities. He explained that EASS would leverage the alumni network to secure funds, earning a percentage of the donations received. “If you do it well you will get much, and if you do little, you will also get little,” he advised.

Dr Adeoti Tayo, National President of BUAA, highlighted that the MoU provides EASS with a far-reaching platform to engage Babcock alumni and donors worldwide, encouraging them to contribute financially to the university.
“It is one thing for the alumni to receive from the university; it is another thing for them to give back,” Dr Tayo stated. “We want to add value to our alma mater by shifting the burden of funding from the institution to the alumni, as commonly done in developed countries.”
Mr Tunde Ijyemi, Chief Executive Officer of EASS, explained that the company would utilise its online platform, Konnect. The platform aids in fundraising, campaigns, and engagement tools to secure donations that support BUAA’s operational activities, mission, and vision.
“We have just entered into a partnership with Babcock Alumni to engage their alumni wherever they are in the world,” he said.
Mr Ijyemi added that EASS has been in operation for over 15 years and already works with the University of Lagos, the University of Ibadan, and Yaba College of Technology.
