In many parts of the world, the notion that women should be confined to traditional roles persists, with some countries even barring women from driving.

Nigeria is no exception, where stereotypes have long held women back, particularly in the automotive industry. “Women shouldn’t drive,” and “Mechanics is a man’s job” are phrases we often hear. However, a new generation of women led by Chinazom Arinze, the founder of Autogirl LTD are shattering these stereotypes and paving their own paths.

In Nigeria, women are increasingly taking the wheel and excelling in the automotive industry, proving that their skills and talents know no gender bounds. The momentum is building, and the future looks bright for women who dare to challenge the status quo.

Autogirl backed by other corporates like UAC, Ayomatics mechanics, Balance mechanics , Univad, LaerryBlue PR and Ijemondo are embarking on a journey to give scholarships to 60 women which would enable them to get skills that will help them start out a successful career in the automotive industry. This initiative is called the Auto Women Empowerment program.

The Auto Women Empowerment Initiative is offering a groundbreaking opportunity for women to break into the automotive industry. This pioneering program provides hands-on training in professional driving, car repair, and affiliate sales, equipping women aged 22 and above with the skills to excel in the automotive industry.

This programme is suitable for university students seeking practical experience, unemployed individuals looking to acquire valuable skills, and car enthusiasts eager to explore mechanics. It is designed to help women reach their full potential and achieve their goals in this highly male dominated industry.

By joining the programme, participants will receive free training and certification, a paid internship upon completion, and become part of a supportive community of women driving change.

The Auto Girl Empowerment will launch on September 1st, 2024, This initiative goes beyond just skills training – it’s a launchpad for a new generation of female leaders and innovators in theautomobile industry.
