Today, the serene office premises of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) in Area 7, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, were disrupted by an invasion orchestrated by one Bola-Audu innocent and his cohorts.
A press statement by ASCSN Secretary-General, Comrade Joshua Apebo, said, “ASCSN therefore called on the Inspector General of Police to arrest and prosecute all those involved in the unlawful act and ensure they face the wrath of the law.”
Comrade Apebo categorically said in the statement that the association’s office was overrun by individuals believed to be recruited by Bola-Audu.
However, men of the Nigerian police force were able to be timely mobilised to restore order and secure the premises from trespassers.
“This incident comes amidst an ongoing legal battle following a recent judgement by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), Abuja, which ruled in Suit No. NICN/ABJ/214/2022 that Bola-Audu should complete his tenure as National President of ASCSN, which according to the court to the court ends on July 29, 2024.
“Following the judgement, ASCSN leadership, under the leadership of Comrade Tommy Etim Okon, the sitting national president, filed an appeal, designated as Suit No. CA/ABJ/CV/780/2024, in the Court of Appeal, Abuja, challenging the NICN ruling.
“But instead of respecting due legal process and awaiting the outcome of the appeal at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, Bola-Audu has chosen to resort to thuggery by invading our offices in Abuja. This conduct is unacceptable in a nation governed by the rule of law.”
The ASCSN further said, “We call upon security agencies to intervene decisively. We urge the IGP to restrain Bola-Audu and his associates from taking matters into their own hands and circumventing legal procedures. This appeal echoes previous instances where Bola-Audu had similarly disrupted ASCSN facilities in the past.
“We urge our teeming members to be calm and adhere to lawful procedures as we navigate this challenge.”
Comrade Joshua Apebo went further to reiterate ASCSN’s commitment to upholding the integrity of legal processes and preserving the stability of its operations.
