Arsenal fans paid tribute to 14-year-old British-Nigerian Daniel Anjorin, who tragically lost his life in a sword attack on Tuesday. The fans paid tributes to Anjorin during Arsenal’s match against Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium Saturday.

Daniel Anjorin, a boyhood Arsenal fan, was fatally attacked on a suburban street in Hainault, East London, while en route to school.

The incident also resulted in injuries to four others. Tributes poured in from across the globe, with donations reaching £118,502 within two days.

Before kick-off, Arsenal honored Daniel Anjorin’s memory with a special tribute.

Fans observed a minute’s applause in the 14th minute, symbolising his age. The teenager’s family granted permission for the tribute, and applause reverberated throughout the stadium following the gesture.

In addition to the minute’s applause, Arsenal supporters displayed a banner reading ‘RIP Daniel’ and held up heartfelt messages in remembrance of the brave schoolboy.

Arsenal also showcased a poignant photograph of Daniel on the stadium’s screens as a further mark of respect. It’s understood that the club has reached out to the family liaison officer to offer support during this difficult time.

The Gunners earlier said: “We share in the shock and sadness of Daniel Anjorin’s death earlier this week. With his family’s blessing, we will make a tribute to Daniel shortly ahead of kick off tomorrow. We ask all supporters to pay their respects to Daniel with us at this moment.”

Staff and pupils at Bancroft’s, an independent school, said they have been left in “profound shock and sorrow” at Daniel Anjorin death.

“We are devastated by the heartbreaking news of the death of Daniel Anjorin, who attended our school. This has left us in profound shock and sorrow,” a statement from the school reads.
