The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Niger State chapter has elected it’ls new executives with Priscilla Dennis of Arogidigba Global Journal emerging as the Treasurer.
The executives all emerged as unopposed candidates for their positions during their inauguration held at the Union’s office behind the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Minna.
The contestants included Yakubu Mustaph Bina of People’s Daily, who was elected as the Chairman for a second term, Nura Mohammed of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Vice Chairman, Daniel Okpole Atori of New Telegraph for a second term as Secretary while Akote Abubakar of Daily Trust as Assistant Secretary.
Others are Priscilla Dennis of Daily Post, Treasurer, Rita Iliya of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Financial Secretary, and Nasiru Mustaph Basari of the Voice of America (VOA) Auditor, respectively.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman, Yakubu Mustapha Bina, assured that his administration will ensure unity, stability, and transparency in the discharge of the Union’s duties, as well ensuring professionalism and ethical conduct by members.
Speaking, the state Chairman, Comrade Abu Nmodu, charged them to work together in peace and unity as well as ensure that members are carried along in all activities for the growth of the Chapel.
He said, “Now that the election is over, please, put aside all your differences and work towards fostering unity among your members for the good of all. Don’t listen to side talks because that will not help you. Chairman (Yakubu Bina), work together with you Exco. Give each each other as well as your members the opportunity to excel.”
