The Chief of Army Staff(COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, said the Nigerian Army will partner with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), to boost the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign and protection of critical national assets.
Gen. Lagbaja, who made this known when the Coordinator National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Major General Adamu Laka, visited him at the Army Headquarters, Abuja, said the partnership has become necessary in curbing terrorism and enhancing the operational readiness of the Nigerian Army.
The COAS, further stated that the collaboration underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to enhancing national security and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
He said “It is important we continue to find ways to enhance our operations by improving our strategies to tackle the evolving threat of terrorism. We will continue to work together to ensure the safety and security of our nation and her critical assets.”
The coordinator who said he was at the army headquarters to brief the COAS on the latest developments in the centre’s counter-terrorism efforts, thanked the COAS, for the collaboration, highlighting the necessity of an integrated approach to counter-terrorism efforts.
He said “Together, we will enhance our capabilities and response strategies, ensuring that we are prepared to confront any challenges that may arise,” he posited.
Laka, also lauded the COAS for his visionary leadership ,noting that, “the COAS has been a key player in the fight against terrorism, who has always strongly advocated for a multi-faceted approach to tackling terrorism, and ever willing to support the Center’s initiatives”.
