From Tony John, Port Harcourt

The Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation (CASE), Major General Olumuyiwa Aiyenigba, has credited the reduction in oil theft and environmental pollution to the operational successes achieved by the 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), in 2024.

He made this declaration during a Regimental Dinner Night hosted by the Headquarters 6 Division at the Python Officers’ Mess, Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State, on Friday.

Major General Aiyenigba, the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH), noted that these successes have contributed to a significant increase in the nation’s oil production output, from 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd) to almost 2 million bpd. He highlighted how this boost has positively impacted the Nigerian economy through increased oil revenue.

Aiyenigba assured the 6 Division of the continued support of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, to sustain these achievements.

He emphasised that the Dinner Night is a vital aspect of military regimentation and expressed his delight at witnessing such an auspicious event in an elite military formation like the 6 Division.

The CASE commended the Division for upholding the age-old military traditions, which he described as critical for reinforcing professionalism and esprit de corps within the Service. He noted that the occasion fostered camaraderie and solidarity among officers, their spouses, other security agencies, and friends of the Division.

He further acknowledged the presence of various security agencies, traditional rulers, and other critical stakeholders at the event, describing it as a testament to the COAS’s philosophy of fostering effective cooperation in a joint and multi-agency environment.

Major General Aiyenigba lauded Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding 6 Division, for his stellar leadership and commended the President Mess Committee (PMC), Python Officers’ Mess, for organising the event. He also appreciated the well-prepared meals, the serene ambience, and the well-executed regimental proceedings.

Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, Commander of the 6 Division Garrison and PMC, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the CASE, traditional rulers, industry captains, and other invited guests who made the event memorable. He reaffirmed the Division’s commitment to maintaining synergy with critical stakeholders.
