The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has urged all commanding officers to uphold their significant responsibility in ensuring operational effectiveness.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Second Commanding Officers Workshop at 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Lieutenant General Lagbaja said the objectives set for the workshop align with the collective goals of improving the operational efficiency and administrative competency of tactical-level commanders.
The Chief of Army Staff, represented by the Chief of Training, Nigerian Army, Major General S.G. Mohammad, maintained that the workshop would also provide opportunities for commanding officers to familiarise themselves with the ongoing transformation and efforts of the Nigerian Army.
Major General Mohammad expressed confidence that through presentations, discussions, and problem-solving sessions, the officers would be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead effectively in their various commands.

Major General Mohammad also commended President Bola Tinubu for his strategic guidance and unwavering support to the Nigerian Army.
He insisted that the unwavering commitment to restoring total peace to the country has contributed immensely to the success of operations, especially in the current efforts of expanding formations and units, barracks renovations and various constructions across the country, as well as welfare initiatives.
Earlier in his address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, said the workshop aimed to brainstorm and enhance the professional and operational competence of tactical-level commanders.
The 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, assured improved security within its divisional area of operations.
The theme of the workshop is “Enhancing Tactical Level Command and Leadership within the Joint Environment”.
