Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged members of the party from the South-West to remain united and be committed to the ideals of the party in their quest for a better and more equitable society.
Arapaja stated this in his remark at the South-West zonal meeting of the party held at the government house, Agodi, Ibadan.
Arapaja stressed the importance of members of the party coming together, giving the unique and vantage position of the zone in the political landscape of the country.
According to him, “We stand united in our pursuit of a better, more equitable society, and the meeting serves as a platform for meaningful discussions and strategic planning.
“Our shared goal is to foster an inclusive political environment where the voices of the people are not only heard but also respected.
“As we deliberate on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding the principles of justice, fairness and accountability,” he said.
Arapaja commended the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde and his counterpart from Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in fostering a harmonious relationship aimed at salvaging the party and making it stronger in the south-western region.
Arapaja congratulated the new zonal vice chairman of the party, Mr Kamorudeen Ajisafe, whose nomination was ratified at the meeting.
He said Ajisafe’s emergence signalled a good omen for the party in the region ahead of future elections.
Ajisafe was elected to replace Honourable Soji Adagunodo, who died in the United States of America last year after a brief illness.
He equally used the occasion to commend Makinde for commissioning another completed 8.2 km dualised Agodi-Gate – old Ife road. – Alakia – Adegbayi and Onipepeye under bridge road, noting that the governor has displayed his total commitment to overhauling the infrastructures in the state.
Arapaja commended former Governors Olusegun Mimiko and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator Adolphus Wabara, Senator Abiodun Olujinmi, Chief Iyiola Oyedokun, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, zonal executive members of the state working committees from Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti States and others that attended the meeting.
