All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has commenced its membership digitisation nationwide.
The National Chairman of the party, Sly Ezeokenwa disclosed this at the regional office of the party in Awka, Anambra State Capital, on Friday, during a press briefing to mark his one year in office, alongside other national officers of the party.
He said the launch is dedicated to fostering ICT skills and innovation among the youth and the society at large and has become the first political party in Nigeria to implement the complete digitization of its membership database.
“This transformation has set a benchmark for other political parties and solidified APGA’s position as a trailblazer in embracing technology for political engagement.”
He noted that with the rebranded national outlook of the party under his watch in the past year, APGA is better positioned to intensify efforts in doing things differently in the country.
According to him, the party has through their “Drive APGA” agenda succeeded in cultivating a disciplined culture within APGA by setting clear guidelines and expectations, upholding the supremacy of the party, thereby promoting accountability and transparency, as well as ensuring that all members uphold APGA’S values without dictates from the hierarchy.
Ezeokenwa spoke about the efforts of his leadership in the party to increase its visibility by introducing novel programmes such as the APGA foundation, APGA next generation, APGA digital hub, APGA manifesto and APGA membership digitisation which will be officially launched on June 1, 2024, offering membership digital cards with an array of features.
He explained that as a constructive opposition, the party has been offering a strong voice for the Nigerian people and advocating for positive changes in crucial areas such as security, economy, inclusive governance and electoral reforms, and suggesting alternative solutions to the ruling national party.
While stating that the party has always advocated stronger institutions, anti-corruption measures and policies that empower marginalized groups, ensuring that no one is left behind in the nation’s progress, Ezeokenwa stressed that it is at the heart of what Governor Charles Soludo is doing in Anambra as the national leader of the party, setting new standards for governance in areas of free education without hidden charges, free antenatal care and child delivery service, construction of roads, renovation of schools, new health facilities, economic growth and stability, among others.
On the party’s position on the conduct of local government elections in Anambra, the National Chairman noted that APGA believes in the local government as an important structure, stressing that the APGA government in Anambra State is deeply committed to the conduct of local government elections.
He stated that APGA; from the national to the grassroots, has been vocal about the local government system in the country, pointing out that their belief is that every state should reflect the peculiarities of their respective state in their local government system, querying the impact of the local government in states where elections were conducted.
On the off-season governorship election in Edo State, the Chairman, expressed optimism of APGA clinching the number one seat, come September 21st, 2024.
