The Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has congratulated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the House of Representatives by-election for Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Ifeoluwa Ehindero.
The Minister, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alao Babatunde, on Sunday, noted that the people of the Federal constituency have spoken with their votes by voting for effective representation once again
He said, “This victory represents the continuity of effective and efficient representation our party has offered since 2019.
“I congratulate the people. I congratulate our party, the All Progressives Congress, and Ifeoluwa Ehindero on this victory.
“The development of the Federal Constituency through quality representation remains the goal, and I hold no doubts that the people who trusted him with this important mandate will not be disappointed.
“We appreciate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for upholding the tenets of democracy by remaining an unbiased umpire throughout the process, as well as security agencies for ensuring voters carry out their franchise in a conducive environment.
“I urge other contestants in the poll to display a high sense of sportsmanship by rallying around the winner to develop the constituency.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Ehindero the winner of the election, polling 35,504 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr. Bada Olalekan of the People Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 15,328 votes.
