The All Progressives Congress (APC) Professional Forum has announced the postponement of its scheduled policy roundtable on Nigeria’s economy, originally slated for Thursday, April 24 in Abuja, due to the ongoing Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.
The roundtable was designed to offer a platform for the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, to present the Tinubu administration’s achievements over the past two years. It was also expected to feature a panel of experts to assess the administration’s mid-term performance.
Announcing the postponement, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the APC Professional Forum, Dr Isa Yuguda, explained in a statement that both ministers would be participating in high-level engagements at the Spring Meetings in Washington.
“We were aware that from April 21 to 26, global economic leaders would converge on the US for the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings, but we were hopeful that the Finance and Health Ministers would still make out time to, not only make presentations at our policy roundtable but, also take part in panel discussions,” he stated.

“But it has now been confirmed that the Nigerian delegation has a series of events and meetings scheduled for the same day in Washington for which the presence of both Mr Edun and Professor Pate would be pivotal, so we have no choice but to defer our event to a later day.”
Dr Yuguda further acknowledged the significance of the ministers’ participation in the global forum, noting that such international engagements are critical for fostering strategic partnerships in support of Nigeria’s economic and health policies.
“We agree that their engagements at an international forum like the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings are important in Nigeria’s quest to build international partnerships for its economic and health policies,” he said.
He added that highlights from Nigeria’s participation in the meetings would form part of the discussions at the rescheduled roundtable, the new date of which will be announced in due course.
