@PIDOMNIGERIA, an anonymous whistleblower known for exposing corruption in government, has been missing since early August, according to reports
The warning was sounded on Thursday in a long substack post by David Hundeyin, an investigative journalist who maintains contact with PIDOM.
Hundeyin claims that he was contacted by an individual claiming to be a close associate of PIDOM, who provided login details to PIDOM’s X account.
However, inconsistencies in the so-called associate’s narrative, several failed login attempts and suspicious hacking activity led Hundeyin to suspect that the government might be involved in PIDOM’s “disappearance”.
Here’s what we know so far:
- PIDOM’s last known communication was in early August.
- An individual claiming to be his associate contacted Hundeyin, sharing (false) account access.
- Hundeyin claims this could be a ploy by authorities to conceal PIDOM’s arrest and silence him permanently.
- The timing coincides with a crackdown on anti-government protests and the reported freezing of cryptocurrency accounts, including those linked to PIDOM.
Hundeyin’s investigation points towards a potential cover-up by authorities, raising serious concerns about the safety of whistleblowers and freedom of speech and expression.
The hashtag #PIDOM is currently trending at number one on X Nigeria.
