Ex-agitators in the Niger Delta region on Friday urged the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Dr. Dennis Otuaro to increase their monthly stipends saying.
“What they’re getting is too small,” the Obaseki of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, High Chief Yusuf Eregbene, said while making the call on behalf of the ex-agitators.
He spoke at an interactive section organised by the Office of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP.
Eregbene insisted that everyone should be carried along in the amnesty programme, in the interest of fairness and justice.
“They should carry everyone that did not benefit from the Amnesty Programme because many of the people that disarmed did not benefit. We need total peace in Niger Delta.”
Eregbene also enjoined the ex-agitators to embrace and sustain the existing peace.
According to him, “where there’s peace, there will be development and other things”.
He said ex-Alagitators who have already been disarmed should concentrate on the agreement they entered into with the Federal Government and work for the peace of the Niger Delta region and the country at large.
“Please, make peace your priority. We need it,” he stressed.
