Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia, and his predecessor, Samuel Ortom, have celebrated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on his 71st birthday.
Alia, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, expressed gratitude to God for keeping Akume to witness another birthday in good health, sound mind and excellent spirit.
Also Ortom, in a statement signed by his media aide, Terver Akase, described Akume as a statesman and leader, who has made significant contributions to the development of the nation in his public service career.
According to Alia, Akume is a beneficiary of the immense grace of God, judging by the great achievements God has helped him to attain in politics and public service. He appreciated him for his legacies in the state and the country, both as a governor, senator, minister, and now the SGF.
In the same vein, Ortom stated that Akume groomed and positioned countless people in good places, including technocrats, politicians and professionals in various fields. He added that his legacy of vision and mentorship would continue to positively impact on many lives.
According to Ortom, “Senator Akume’s journey in public service has been nothing short of outstanding. As a former governor of Benue State and a three-time Senator, who represented the Benue North West Senatorial District, Minister of the Federal Republic and now SGF, Senator Akume has demonstrated unparalleled commitment to the welfare of his people and the country as a whole.”
Ortom said as SGF, Akume’s role has been pivotal in enabling the administration of President Bola Tinubu to confront the challenging economic situation in the country.
