The Algeria Football Federation on Thursday announced the appointment of Bosnian Vladimir Petkovic as head coach of the Desert Warriors.
Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, was reportedly considered for the role.
The North Africans have, however, settled for Petkovic.
Petkovic, according to information on the official website of the Algeria Football Federation, will arrive Algiers on Sunday to finalise his contract.
The 60-year-old will be unveiled during a press conference next week Monday.
Algeria parted ways with former head coach, Djamel Belmadi, last month following the Desert Warriors early elimination from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
The two-time champions failed to make it beyond the group stage of the competition.
