Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has terminated the appointment of the Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr Bassey Okon.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Enobong Uwah, in Uyo, the state capital on Monday.
Though the governor did not give reasons for relieving the commissioner of his appointment, he said that the termination was with immediate effect.
While appreciating the commissioner for the period he served in the state, the governor wished him well in his future endeavours
He ordered the commissioner to hand over all property of government in his position to the Permanent Secretary in the ministry and directed the Secretary to the State Government to oversee the affairs of the ministry pending the appointment of a new commissioner.
“In an ongoing effort to reposition this administration in line with the ARISE Agenda, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Umo Eno, has relieved Dr Bassey Okon, Commissioner for Special Duties as Commissioner in the Akwa Ibom Executive Council with immediate effect,” the statement read.
